WEB SITE UPDATE 5th May - November is coming MAJOR UPDATE THIS WEEK - Stay tuned we will be releasing HALF of or massive 2008 event lineup this week! 2008 is shaping up to be an interesting year for Armageddon. As those of you who have been following this site and were looking forward to our May expo will already know, the May Sydney event was cancelled as we were planning a huge sci-fi convention with a MAJOR star attending.
We have received numerous emails waiting for the release of this guest and concrete details on the events and what is happening, so here it is for your reading pleasure in order of what’s happened and happening. Sydney Armageddon expo – Culture shock were offered a MASSIVE celebrity guest that was the type of star every event organiser hopes they will host once in their career, however, we could only host them in Melbourne. With the choice of running an event against ourselves (one in Sydney and one in Melbourne) one that we all wanted to attend- We decided to cancel the Sydney show in favour of the Melbourne event. Melbourne Sci-fi show – We have been waiting to publically announce this incredible guest, however due to reasons we cannot go into, they cannot make this event (we are still very hopeful to host them in the near future). Without this guest the idea of a MEGA sci-fi weekend could not be realized and so, with regret this event will not be taking place now. (Please note: we are still discussing with this guest for a future event and as such we cannot release their name yet. However if you think of the best guest from sci-fi we could possibly have, and about half of you would be right) So what’s happening now?
We have benched the Sydney expo for 2008 and will look to run it in late 2009 with the Melbourne expo. We are happy to announce a special mini weekend convention with Erick Avari and Tracy Scoggins in Melbourne and Sydney on May 3rd and 4th visit either of these two web sites for details on these great mini cons www.firstcontactconventions.com.au and www.cultureshockexpo.com you will also see details on a Chris Judge and Gary Graham event for April as well, so check them out and order your tickets now! So what does this mean for the expo?
As much as we regret not being able to do the big events in May that we had planned, sometimes, when you take a risk (which running these events is) it just doesn’t work out, that’s why it’s called ‘A risk’. However while May might not have turned out the way we had hoped, plans are well underway for our Huge Melbourne expo on November 1st/2nd at the Melbourne Exhibition centre, venues is booked, deposit’s and have been paid and guests are all lined up. We will begin announcing a full line-up early May, however expect to see Stargate Atlantis guest David Hewlett, animation legend Grey DeLisle and comic great Jim Lee among the many guests attending.
2008 may have gotten off to a bumpy start; however it is going to have a hell of a finish! Stay tuned for more details soon
