About Freema Agyeman

Freema Agyeman is an actress from London, best known for her role in Doctor Who (2006-2010) and the spinoff series Torchwood (2008) as Martha Jones. She is also well known for her character Amanita Caplan in the acclaimed Netflix series Sense8 (2015-2018). 

Freema was a regular cast member on Law & Order: UK (2009-2011), as Junior Prosecutor Alesha Phillips. From there, she went on to play Larissa Loughlin in The Carrie Diaries (2013-2014), a Sex in the City prequel series; as well as Shelly Periwinkle on Old Jack’s Boat (2013-2015). Freema starred as Penny, in the award winning UK Gangster film North v South (2015). 

Most recently you can find her on the new NBC medical drama, New Amsterdam (2018), as Dr. Helen Sharpe.
