We are the Gaming Research and Investigation Laboratory AKA GRAIL; a psychology focused research lab based at Massey University focusing on gaming, play, and what we can learn from it. We explore the effects and potential benefits of analogue gaming via 1) table-top roleplaying games aka TTRPG’s (you know, like Dungeons and Dragons, Blades in the Dark, and Wanderhome etc), and 2) board games (from Gloomhaven, to Ticket to Ride, to Azul and beyond).
