Thanks to our friends at Fiveight we got to try out the latest installment in The Division games… check out our initial thoughts on this game below.

Set seven months after the outbreak of a virus that destroyed America and sent society spinning into chaos you play as a Division Agent who receives a distress call from Washington D.C, the Division Base of Operations. As a Division agent you are humanities last hope it is your purpose to preserve the city and maintain order and restoration within society. When enemies threaten the Divisions main strong hold you must fight back to preserve order.

You start the game in a derelict small American town full of those affected by the virus in which the location begins to paint a portrait of a nightmarish apocalyptic America. Made all the more nightmarish for the plausibility of its nature, as the player you can truly appreciate how a national pandemic would produce such a situation. Opening with a STUNNING opening sequence and continuing through every cutscene and campaign location the attention to detail is breathtaking.

Produced by Massive Studio in collaboration with Ubisoft's Annecy, Red Storm, Reflections studios, Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Leamington. One of the most amazing facts about the games animation is that the D.C. you see in the game is a 1:1 representation of the city, making it possibly one of the most authentic and accurate in-game maps ever created. This only adds to the realistic feel of the game and its plot. Impressive work from the studios involved.

As a sequel game it does well to account for players who are new to the story who may not have played through the first game (including us), providing a recap of the story so far and detailed hints and tutorials on the gameplay. The games weapons are fully customizable you can build on specific skills which will help you against the huge range of enemies and combat situations. The initial enemy in the campaign are the Hyena’s, violent and lawless scavengers, but as you get further into the different campaigns you’ll also face Outcasts, survivors of abandoned quarantine area who are out for revenge, True Sons, a group of warlords determines to stake their claim on the land and later Black Tusks, a secret and deadly military organization whose agenda is unknown. All of these pose unique challenges making the game an incredibly engaging adventure for fans of combat heavy games.

We only scratched the surface of this immersive game. We stuck to the campaign on solo mode but where this game’s true strengths appear to be is in group gaming with their co-op and PvP modes. This is perhaps best explored in one of the unique features of The Division games, the Dark Zones. Sealed areas unexplored since the pandemic which make for volatile areas to battle other players and enemies in the PvP mode. Another great feature of this game which adds immense value is the games ever-evolving new content and missions, Those who complete the campaign and reach level 30 will unlock the Endgame which provides the opportunity for further skill upgrades, map expansions and missions.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is the ultimate game for RPG and FPS gamers who enjoy playing co-op. For those of you who prefer a to play solo or like a more story rich and combat light game, this may not be the game for you, but everyone can certainly appreciate the incredible world they’ve created. Tom Clancy’s The Division is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC!
